a founding partner in Dennett Winspear, LLP,
Gina Winspear has an
outstanding reputation among her clients and peers as a tough, but
fair, trial attorney. Ms. Winspear enjoys great success in front of
Nevada juries, judges and arbitrators due to her thorough
preparation, strong written submissions and attention to detail.
Prior to founding Dennett Winspear, LLP, Ms. Winspear was a partner
in the long-time Las Vegas civil litigation law firm, Pearson,
Patton, Shea, Foley & Kurtz, where she began her legal career and
received outstanding training and opportunities to hone her skills
as an aggressive advocate for her clients.
Ms. Winspear has had extensive experience as lead counsel
representing clients in front of the Nevada Supreme Court as well as
Nevada state and federal courts. Ms. Winspear has also handled
hundreds of arbitrations and mediations, including many complex
cases involving millions of dollars. Ms. Winspear has enjoyed
particular success representing insurance companies in first party
bad faith cases in front of the Federal District Court for the
District of Nevada.
With her law partner Ryan Dennett, Ms. Winspear has also applied her
litigation experience to representation of select plaintiff's
catastrophic injury and death claims, and general business
litigation. In this regard, she has earned seven figure
settlements for the benefit of her clients.
Ms. Winspear also accepts select family law cases. During the
beginning of her legal career and while in law school, Ms. Winspear
had a particular affinity for family law and the necessity of
recognizing the importance of aggressive representation of the
client, while assuring that, where children are involved, the
parenting relationship is respected and maintained. To that end, Ms.
Winspear has represented clients in cases involving up to
seven-figure property settlements, child custody and child support
and has been involved in appeals to the Nevada Supreme Court in
cases involving complex family law, property distribution and
custody issues. Ms. Winspear has also provided countless hours of
pro bono, no fee, representation of adoptive parents as they
navigate through the social services and court systems to finalize
expanding their families through adoption.
A third generation Las Vegan, Ms. Winspear returned to practice law
after being admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1994. Ms.
Winspear is also licensed to practice in Utah. In 1991, Ms. Winspear
earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Wellesley
College located outside Boston, Massachusetts. Upon graduation from
Wellesley, knowing that she wanted to settle in her hometown of Las
Vegas, Ms. Winspear worked her way West and enrolled in J. Reuben
Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, where she earned her
Juris Doctor in 1994. While in law school, Ms. Winspear excelled in
moot court and legal writing, earning distinctions in both areas.
Ms. Winspear also authored journal articles including, "Juvenile
Court Dispositions," Utah Juvenile Court Guidebook, Summer, 1994,
and was a member of the Utah Attorney General's office legal staff.
Ms. Winspear's legal practice includes service as a court-appointed
and private arbitrator. She is also frequently asked to present
continuing legal education seminars on topics relating to trial
presentation, personal injury litigation and insurance defense
litigation.
As a busy working wife and mother of two young children, Ms.
Winspear has had little time to pursue hobbies in the last few years
but looks forward to returning to playing both golf and tennis as
her children get older and start taking lessons of their own. Out of
the office, Ms. Winspear enjoys spending time and traveling with her
family. When not at the office, Ms. Winspear can be found attending
t-ball games, tennis lessons and ballet classes, volunteering in her
children's school classes, helping with homework and taking her kids
to an endless stream of birthday parties.
